Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an appealing background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is illegal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is real of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, highlights 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that features a number of amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 tables.
